Requirements of the Certification

 

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) candidates on the Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 track are required to satisfy the following requirements:

Core Exams (6 Exams Required)
Four networking system exams,one client operating system exam, and one design exam.

Elective Exams (1 Exam Required).
Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation.

Upgrade Exams (2 Exams Required).
Microsoft has designed an upgrade path that will enable a current MCSE to earn the Windows Server 2003 credential in a time- and cost-effective manner.

  • I have passed some Windows 2000 exams. Will I be required to complete my certification with Windows 2000 exams? Or will I be able to complete my certification with both Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 exams?
    Microsoft has developed independent certification requirements for Windows Server 2003. The certification requirements for MCSE on Windows Server 2003 differ from those for MCSE on Windows 2000.
    As a result, you must either complete the entire Windows 2000 track or the entire Windows Server 2003 track to become certified as an MCSE.

  • I am a Microsoft Certified Trainer. Will I be required to upgrade to the Windows Server 2003 track to retain my MCT credential?
    Yes. By October 31, 2004, all MCTs must be certified as either an MCSE on Windows Server 2003, an MCSD on Microsoft. NET, or an MCDBA in order to remain certified as a Microsoft Certified Trainer. As a member of the MCT Program, you play an important role in educating information technology professionals and developers on the latest Microsoft products and technologies.
